One Mercedes Benz TV commercial shows its car colliding with a cement wall during the safety test. Somebody asked the company spokesman why they do not enforce their patent on the Mercedes Benz energy-absorbing car body, a design evidently copied by other companies because of its success. The spokesman's reply: "Because some things in life are too important not to share."
...Even in a dog-eat-dog, cutthroat world of business, sharing has its place.
God has never intended for us to cling to the things He lavished on us. All the talents, all the gifts, all the blessings are meant to be shared.
There's a story of a Pastor who was profusely thanked by a farmer after hearing his sermon on giving. The Pastor, testing the farmer, asked, "If you had one hundred horses, would you give me fifty?" The farmer replied, "Certainly!" The Pastor went on, "If you had one hundred cows, would you give me fifty?" And the farmer nodded again. If you had two pigs, would you give me one?" the Pastor continued. The farmer lost his cool and said, "Now, cut that out, Pastor, You know that I have two pigs!"
If there's one thing I have come to understand in this life, it is this: giving is always more blessed than receiving. As we give our time, talent and treasures to those who need them, the joy we experience is indescribable.
Take a good look around you and you'll see that the people who are in the business of giving are usually the happiest people on earth. That officemate who keeps on sharing her food during breaks, listening to those in distress. That manager who shares his knowledge and expertise to the new employees. [And many more like them.] These people are always enjoying every minute of what they are doing.
What can you give? Well, you can give your love for a start. A little of your precious time. A portion of your treasure. You don't have to look far. Those who are in need are near you, even right beside you.
"It has been said that the world is full of two kinds of people, the givers and the takers. The takers eat well, but the givers sleep well."

During the years that I spent with my wife… before I went to my sojourn in the Middle East… we have both learned to appreciate and be satisfied with small and simple things. We have learned to be contented with the simple joys of life, and not be attracted to the false glitter of luxury… and extravagance… again. In our years together, we have experienced how is it to have most of what you wanted that money can buy…. and we have also experienced how is it to have nothing at all.
And what we have learned from this experience is this : Life is NOT about focusing all our energies in acquiring things that we DON’T HAVE… (specially things that we WANT but not necessarily things that we NEED), but on being satisfied with what we already HAVE.
An important aspect here is in the area of giving, specially to those who are needy. Me and my wife have often discussed how we could be well-off if we haven't shared our resources to needy family members or relatives or have been too selfish to extend help to people who came to us for help. But that was not what we have learned in all our years together. We are more content in giving, which gives us much joy that having an abundant supply of money could not give.
Speaking of money, I came across a blog by Frank Hanna on what money should really mean for us. As I have also written in my letters and in what Frank Hanna have written in his blog that money is not evil in itself and actually can be used to do good, particularly in the area of providing for those who are needy. Frank Hanna is a philanthropist and has practiced this for a long time and in his book "What Your Money Means" he teaches us the real value and purpose of money as he have learned through his experience and from wisdom books.
Let us learn to be like givers and sharers who are always willing to give to others who are in need.... even if it means dipping into their already meager resources.... even if it hurts.
Rest assured that when the Heavenly Father sees this goodness in your heart, he will return this to you a hundredfold and will open up the floodgates of heaven until you will have no more room to receive His blessings!
